FULL COLOR 3D PRINTING

This technique uses powder (sand stone or plastic), a binder and pigments to print objects in 3D and full color. All colors are available and depending on the application one could choose between sand stone or plastic. CRE8 offers:

Material proporties: Mixture of sand stone with binder (composite), has therefore characteristics of ceramic material, in terms of weight, hardness and chance of breaking Plastic, somewhat comparable with PP, but a lot harder
Not water tight, food save, dishwasher save and resistant to temperature up till 60 degrees Resistant to water and temperature up till 57 degrees
Costs: The costs for 3d printing are determined on the basis of the amount of material needed for the print, in cm3.
To save material costs, you can best deliver a massive/solid object as a hollow object. The minimum wall thickness and other relevant design tips are in design guidelines

Volume: volume To save material costs it’s best to make a solid object hollow.
Escape holes: openinginvorm To allow the unbuilt powder to be removed from the hollow shape at least one hole should be present with a diameter of at least 25 mm (or 2 holes of at least 15 mm) To allow the unbuilt powder to be removed from the hollow shape at least one hole should be present with a diameter of at least 4 mm (or 2 holes of at least 2 mm)

Shape in shape: vorminvorm This printing technique allows a shape to be printed inside a another shape. Bare in mind the powder in the interspace can be removed, in other words make sure escape holes are present

To print your object in full color 2 files are needed: a file that describes the 3D shape (as .stl-file) and a file describing the colors (as .VRML97 of .X3D). This color file or texture map can be created in your 3D software program, bare in mind the following:

– only UV textures can be read, no other texture projections
– only bitmap textures
– texture files in JPG or PNG format
– multiple texture maps could be used within 1 object, but the maps are not allowed to overlap
– total resolutions of texture maps can’t be no more than 2048 x 2048 pixels
